The Sr. SharePoint Administrator serves as the primary individual to develop, plan, install, configure, monitor, and maintain Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) infrastructure. This position requires expert knowledge of MOSS Architecture and functionality and a strong working knowledge of related technologies such as: Windows Server administration, Windows Architecture, SQL Server 200x, Internet Information Server, Active Directory, SSL, Kerberos, and Microsoft Office desktop application integration with SharePoint. Experience with workflow and InfoPath integration with other technologies is necessary.
The Sr. SharePoint Administrator must be able to analyze the Institution’s information architecture, understand institutional and departmental requirements, to configure and maintain organizational taxonomies, site collections, policies, procedures, and solutions. The Sr. SharePoint Administrator will work closely with developers to install, debug, and maintain necessary code of assigned software. Individual must be highly motivated in this area of computing in order to stay current with present trends and activities. The Sr. SharePoint Administrator must have strong communication, customer service, troubleshooting, and organizational skills and the ability to complete assigned work with minimal instruction and supervision.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overall responsibility for the installation, configuration, monitoring, maintenance to include upgrades, and day-to-day management of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) including:
Ø Accountability for the enforcement of assigned organizational governance and taxonomies within MOSS
Ø Assists with the design and development of organizational taxonomy
Ø Assists with the design and development of overall governance to include policies and procedures, guidelines, and/or diagrams that frame the use of SharePoint
Ø Works with leadership and established committees to ensure compliance to design, software, security, and governance and taxonomy standards as related to SharePoint
Ø Works in conjunction with developers to ensure consistency in SharePoint development and deployment
Ø Responsible for configuration and maintenance of new and existing site collections ensuring consistency according to established governance
Ø Responsible for configuration and maintenance of document libraries, form libraries, meeting and document workspaces, security, site definitions, site templates, site utilization reporting , and infrastructure backups
Ø Responsible for MOSS infrastructure high availability and disaster recovery design and testing
Ø Work with other team members to define and execute quality assurance measures including detailed test plans
Overall project management of assigned projects to include:
Ø Initial installation and upgrade planning for SharePoint and associated infrastructure
Ø Provide guidance and solution strategies to the development team that best utilizes the SharePoint feature-sets as they pertain to the business requirements
Ø Train staff on new feature-sets as necessary
Overall responsibility for the configuration of SharePoint components and features to include but not limited to:
Ø Working with the GAC (Global Assembly Cache)
Ø Working with the SharePoint 2007 Object Model
Ø Administration, configuration and customization of SharePoint including developing and implementing custom and third-party web parts
Ø Creating custom site definitions using CAML
Ø Site branding / developing event handlers
Ø Web part and user control development
Ø SharePoint web services
Ø Configuring the SharePoint Search - including defining content sources and crawl schedules, and creating managed properties, crawl rules, and scopes
Ø Using the Business Data Catalog
Ø InfoPath Form Services configuration
Ø Building/Implementing custom SharePoint workflows (both SharePoint Designer based workflows and custom Workflow Foundation workflows or third party engine workflows)
Ø Working with native and third party tools for configuration, monitoring, or extending functionality
Maintain an awareness and understanding of technological advances; provide continuous research and assessment of new resources and technology available for SharePoint. This includes, but is not limited to:
Ø Literature review including professional magazines, books and internet web sites
Ø Participation, as appropriate, in vendor supplied training and conferences
Ø Evaluate new and existing products to address customer requirements and develop recommendations where appropriate
Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of the department and institution
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE SHOULD INCLUDE:
- Six (6) years related Information Technology experience which includes two (2) years experience in administering a fully deployed environment in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)
- Demonstrated strong organizational, analytical, communication, writing, presentation, and prototyping skills
- Strong understand of collaboration, collaboration technologies, content management, workflow, application design, development, and deployment
- Ability to work independently and be able to work across departmental teams
- Development experience in .NET programming highly desirable
- Experience with FAST ESP, Cognos, and K2 highly desirable
- MCTS certifications in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) configuration and/or development highly preferred
