Topic Details

PowerApps is a very powerful Software as a Service (SaaS) tool used to build powerful data-driven business applications using a WYSIWYG drag and drop designer and Excel-like formulas. Included in the O365 suite, PowerApps provides the ability to connect to hundreds of various data sources such as Salesforce, Dropbox, OneDrive, GitHub, Dynamics 365, SharePoint and more. Instead of customizing SharePoint list forms (New, Edit, Display) with InfoPath it is now recommended to use PowerApps. While PowerApps is not the InfoPath replacement, it is the successor and the PowerApps team has worked hard to incorporate a better experience so you can quickly build and deploy the right business solution without writing code.

Topics and areas to be covered:

  • Overview of PowerApps & Flow and the most recent released features
  • Using PowerApps to customize SharePoint list forms
  • Working with PowerApps and the SharePoint data connector
  • Tips on replacing InfoPath forms with PowerApps
  • Integrating Flow with PowerApps

Be sure to forward this meeting info to your colleagues and friends!

May 2017 Meeting

May 9th 5:30pm (In-person & Online)

Topic: Creating & Upgrading SharePoint Workflows
Location: 8 City Blvd., Suite 403, Nashville, TN 37209 – MAP
Speaker: Daniel Glenn, MVP
Sponsor: Microsoft
Cost: FREE (free food too!)

Topic Details
For a long time, we have been using workflow for automating business processes in every version of SharePoint, while using various tools to create them: out of the box workflows, SharePoint Designer, Visual Studio, & third-party applications like Nintex and K2.
Now that SharePoint Designer will no longer updated and there is a push to move to the cloud, what are we supposed to do now to automate tasks and business workflow?

What if you aren’t moving to Office 365 and just want to know what tool you should use to create workflows moving forward?

Should you migrate your existing SharePoint Designer workflows to Microsoft Flow or a third-party tool? What would that process look like?

Should you continue to build workflows using SharePoint Designer in SharePoint 2010, 2013, 2016?

In our time together, we will review those questions and more so you can be confident in your path forward with process automation, no matter what version of SharePoint you are using or where it is hosted!

Be sure to forward this meeting info to your colleagues and friends!

If you are attending remotely – via Skype for Business – you will be emailed the meeting link the afternoon of the event.

March 14th 5:30pm

Topic: SharePoint 2016 New Options
Location: 8 City Blvd., Suite 403, Nashville, TN 37209 – MAP
Speaker: James Curry
Sponsor: Summit 7 Systems

Topic Details
New options available in SharePoint and SharePoint Online include the Modern UI, which has been available in SharePoint Online and is now available for SharePoint on premises with SharePoint 2016 Feature Pack 1. This is an important feature set for a hybrid SharePoint scenario to maintain a consistent look and feel. SharePoint 2016 also includes expanded Feature Pack 1 MinRole options, such as reducing the number or servers for a MinRole deployment from 8 to 4. The advantages of MinRoles, farm topologies, and how to mirror the new MinRole deployments without using Feature Pack 1 will also be discussed. Finally, the SharePoint Patterns and Practices Responsive UI plugin provides a quick, supported, and effective way to make standard SharePoint site mobile friendly. Combined with Office Web Apps in SharePoint 2013 or Office Online Server in SharePoint 2016 these provide a way to take your current SharePoint implementation and Office documents on mobile devices today.
