February 2017 Meeting

***Online Lunch Time Meeting***

February 14th 11:30am
Topic: Understanding and Leveraging Microsoft’s Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) Suite
Location: Online Meeting (link sent before meeting)
Speaker: Sean P. McDonough
Sponsor: SharePoint Saturday Nashville

Topic Details
The Enterprise Mobility + Security (EMS) Suite is a product offering that receives a lot of attention and “air time” from Microsoft nowadays. Although many enterprise architects, technical decision makers, and IT Pros have heard about EMS, many don’t know exactly what it is and what it does. In this session, we will be looking closely at EMS and the growing set of identity, security, data, and device management problems that it addresses. We will look at each of the workloads and capabilities within EMS, how they work, and some practical examples of solutions involving each. We will also clear-up the confusion that frequently arises in understanding where Office 365 ends and EMS begins. By the end of this session, you will understand what EMS is, the role that it plays in secure cloud solutions, and why it is a natural fit for consumers already leveraging Office 365 in their day-to-day operations.

Be sure to forward this meeting info to your colleagues and friends!

January 2017 Meeting

January 10th 5:30pm
Topic: Bringing Sexy Back …to the Document Set Home Page
Location: Microsoft, 8 City Blvd., Suite 403, Nashville, TN 37209 – MAP
Speaker: Neville Scheevel
Sponsor: SharePoint Saturday Nashville

Topic Details
The SharePoint Document Set content type is super useful for organizing documents.  But it’s home page is in desperate need of a make-over.  This unruly page forces end-users to scroll, and filter, and sort – and scroll some more – trying to locate their desired content. So let’s improve the usefulness of docsethomepage.aspx by implementing a new layout. We’ll replace stacked webpart zones with tabbed sections, link web parts to display associated tasks, and turn docsethomepage.aspx into a powerful hub for consolidating documents and data. This discussion is targeted for developers who are comfortable with HTML, JavaScript, and SP Designer, but you don’t have to be an expert, we’ll work through examples starting with the basics.
